Ideas for a teenage girl's bedroom?

Question:I'm moving in a month, and my parents said that I could decorate the room however I like.

Some things to know:
- It's a lease. I'm in 8th grade now, and we'll be staying there for my four years of high school, so I don't want to do anything too permanent, or too temperary.
- We're allowed to paint the walls; just no dark colours.
- It's pretty small, but I'm going to have two rooms, each 9x8ft, so everything doesn't have to fit in just one room.
- There's one black-framed, horizontally sliding window along with a closet in each room.
- I dont' want it to be too girly (As in, I don't want pink and kissy marks on the walls)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

One suggestion would be to paint it white (I know, bleh), there are many shades of white to choose from. Your colors can come in with your choice of bedspread, pillows, curtains, rugs, and what ever pictures or posters you put up.
Or you could try a light mossy green, (I really like mossy green myself, and I'm not partial to any color blue, but that's just me).
See if your parents will take you to a paint store and check out the paint chips, there are so many colors to choose from, and your parents will be with you to say yea or nay to the color you choose.
Again you can brighten up any color you choose (since you need to keep it light) with your accessories. If you have a lot of outside light (indirect sunlight) have some fun with plants, and see if you can get your parents to spring for a little water fountain. I have two (though I am far from a teenager) the sound of the water is very soothing.
Good luck, and have a happy four years at school, find yourself some really good true friends and be nice to everyone else, and most importantly, don't let anything anyone says about you get to you. High School can be rough. Ignore the idiots and stick with your friends. (sorry for the unsolicited advice)

dont spend money on decorating the walls, just paint them white and get it over with. now you add a good sterio, computer, cable decent tv dvd player all these things you take off to college with you! especially the computer!! ask my junior thats how we did her room. she is also into music, sax, keyboard and clarinett
black goes nicely with hot pink - but do it in a sexy cosmo way, black furniture, hot pink wall and white carpet.
I have three suggestions. If the black window is a major element, you could use black, white, and just about any other single color.

If you want something different, try navy blue, violet, and off-white. The navy blue keeps it from looking to girly, and the violet keeps it from looking like a boy's room.

Or if you want something brighter, try the colors of a sunset: corals, bright pinks, and lavenders. Choose one that's not too garish for the walls, and bring the others in in bedding and window treatments.

I would make one room for sleeping/dressing and use the other room more like an office/den, with computer and a futon sofa for overnight guests and for entertaining.
