Can you lay ceramic floor tiles onto vinyl tiles?
Question:i dont want to try and remove the vinyl tiles as the floor is level but when i have tryed to take some up it leaves big holes in the concrete beneath it

Yes as long as you degrease and then seal them. Also ensure the floor is level, it might be worth taking them up and levelling off with self levelling compound first, always worth doing a proper job, saves time and money later.

Do it right or don't do it at all. Remove the vinyl tiles and use some floor leveler that will fill in the holes or fix all concrete patch. Then set your tile.
Not if your vinyl tiles are fixed to your ceiling. Move house it's easier.

In a word yes. Make sure you get rid of a polish etc; wire brush them if necessary.
Most of all make sure you use an adhesive suitable for non-porous floors. B&Q warehouse sells a good one.
If you use the wrong type i.e. one meant for pourous floors it will never dry.
Arent u supposed to put a 'backer-board' or some kind of cement board>? If so... the vinyl tiles shouldn't matter?
no the vinyl tiles should be taken up or they could come loose after a time therfor ruining you floor by the way i have been laying floors for 40 odd years
