How do i make a doggie door for a sliding glass door?
Question:
Answers:
I bet it would be easier to teach the dog to open the door.
add a side panel that has a dog door in it.
it makes your door way smaller. and your door will not close all the way.
There are some side pamels made just for this. they have a new bar for the door to latch to. a glass panel about 12 inchs wide and a dog door at the bottom.
Second is to remove the non movable side and have it cut down or a new smaller sheet made so that the side panel is not on the door side. this is the better way, as it does not hamper door function.
Another way is to make the dog door next to your door, through the wall.
Ain't possible. Door glass is tempered and any attempt to cut it will break it into many small pieces..
It's not possible to cut in an existing door. However you can definitely buy a panel for the sliding glass door with a dog door built in so your door will still close and lock. They come in a variety of sizes for all dogs and different styles depending on how you want them to work. Some have just the traditional flap while others are marketed as energy efficient. They can run a few hundred dollars but it gives your pup freedom to come in and out without begging you to let them in or out. They're also pretty easy to install.
