What kind of wall art should we use in our apartment if.?
Question:We have a zebra print rug, black leather sofa, black furniture(coffee table ) & red accents? We don't want animal print over kill...just the rug. any ideas?
Answers:
Well, green is a complementary color to red. And with the animal print you already have in the room, maybe something that evokes the jungle, like a large painting of big tropical leaves. I'm thinking something abstract or at least something that lacks uniformity.
Or a large, square, black and white photo that's a close up of a tropical flower.
light green to make it cooler
I think maybe something very simple and plain, Like a red sunset with a black outline of something. Or a light color background with something of one color dominating the picture. nothing more than 2 colors. Nothing busy. Do you have a favorite lamp or pillow you want to accent? A lot depends on the color of your walls also. Do you have bright lights or dim? Just go with something not to busy or too many colors.
How about an abstract painting/litho/repro combining all those three colors..or perhaps you can introduce another color through the wall art.
But better yet, I think a blown up black and white photo that perhaps you took would look wonderful...the photos can also be played with on Photoshop and you can add some muted color tones to the black and white (and gray). The photo can be blown up by your local copy shop like Kinkos for a reasonable price. You can have it done in a fabric and stretch it on a frame like a canvas. Have fun.
I think these might look nice:
