I would like to suggest an Ikea store or Pier One Imports store. Do a search on line, you may find some really nice locations near your home town or maybe even different avenues to shop for the items you are looking for too.
Ikea - too! Check out their website, you can look through the catalog online or order one. Target is also pretty good.
I hate to say this, but I find the quality and durability of Ikea furniture quite poor.
Try www.overstock.com. They've got some really beautiful pieces at great prices. If you do a coupon search first, you can usually find free shipping and/or percentage off coupons... especially if you're a first time buyer.
why buy cheap?
Why not invest in something that will last?
If you go with unfinished furniture, then you can get quality furniture that you can make as funky as you want with any kind of paint effect that you want.
