Visit the paint store. Pick out your favorite color and check for shades. Also remember, there are lots of different versions of "WHITE". Most whites have a slight yellow, cream, or pink tone to them. If I chose pink for one wall I would look for a white that had a pink undertone. Check out the paint card samples at your store, and check to see if they have an in store decorator to help choose colors. Sometimes they come up with something wonderful that we would have not thought of ourselves. It is also a good idea unless you are totally starting from scratch to fill a shopping bag with pillow covers or fabrics from window coverings and take them with you to the store. Easier than taking home the paint samples and then having another trip to the store after you have decided. We recently moved into a home which had a room that I converted from a little boy's room with a sports theme to an elegant guestroom. The room had a basketball border with two turquoise walls and two creamy white walls. I thought that it would be easy to duplicate this color block pattern by only painting two walls. I got a $3.00 can of "oops!" paint at Lowe's in a beautiful sage green (the color that someone else turned down was great for me, so my $30.00 paint cost me $3.00 instead. When I tried painting the two walls that were turquoise I discovered the corners were not level and plumb and the wall was just basically crooked. This would have been obvious if I had painted only two walls. I chose to do all four, and put up a shiny, elegant border to match at the juncture with the ceiling. You might want a border too. Choose something that you will like the other colors and gives you some more decorating room to get accessories in those colors.
The colors we chose, to decorate our homes, flourish in our gardens, and adorn our body and personal spaces have a lot to offer us in the way of personal insight about what is going on inside, our innermost feelings and emotions. Make sure the color you choose is a color that will create a warm and comfortable feel. Some colors will actually create energy, or a restless feel. Since this is the room where you will sleep, be careful and thoughtful, and then when you find the right color for you , GO FOR IT !! Just remember, it is only paint. If you really end up not liking it, you just paint over it !
Why not paint it? It is your room and a good way to express yourself and your sense of style. If you don't like it, then repaint. Ask the sales person at the store if the color you choose will look darker or lighter on the wall once it dries. It does make a difference. Go for it.
