Renaissance/Medieval decor...?

Question:I enherited my mothers collection of black rod iron wall decor, a mase, axe, and a knight. I bought heavy lined brocade drapes and a velvet duvet. All in all- it's not awful. But one looks poppy red and the other strawberry. And I'm not all together sure the textures work together. Friends say I'm being anal but I want to get it right.any suggestions? It's coming off vampire s&m. lol

Answers:
Add some gold fabric accessories, pillows, tassel tie backs, etc. Try spray painting some black wrought iron pillar candle holders with splotches of gold and use gold or off-white pillars. Lighting can also help shape a room.. Think organic and bring in some natural stone (lamp bases?), statuary, etc.
Look at www.art.com for posters of that persuasion and consider buying inexpensive wood frames that you spray gold for that "Midas" look. Consider a collection of boxes, like treasure chests in different textures & Materials. And don't forget a great mirror!!

I like Patricia D's suggestion. But I'd've gone for crimson red myself, esp. given the vampire angle.
