How do you disconnect a gas fireplace and avoid a gas leak?

Question:We want to insert tile around the fireplace and need to disconnect it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Answers:
There should be a turn off valve before it get's to the fireplace.

Your best bet would be to have a professional disconnect the gas and not do it yourself. Big dangers if you are not careful and sure how to do it. Or turn off the main and you should be OK but please be careful either way you do it.
there sould be a shut-off valve to the fireplace. make sure the valve is turned off before disconnecting.
