Get some ideas together, paint colors, pics from magazines and do a little presentation to your mom. Make a little layout of your room of where you would put certain pieces of furniture and what wall you would like what color! You can find cute inexpensive stuff at thrift stores, Goodwills, garage sales, friends etc, You could even buy a piece of furniture at a time of something you really like that might cost a little more! Let her know you are willing to put some work into the room yourself! Good Luck!
Well first off you should come up with a plan. What colors do you want to use? Instead of getting new furniture, think about using some elbow grease and refinishing the furniture you do have. You can probably strip what you have now and either stain or paint the furniture into a matching color and set. Then just ask your mom. If you have an organized plan of what you want to do she will be impressed you have thought it out. Also tell her how much you estimate it might cost, paint, linens, wall hangings, etc and tell her you will either help her around the house and do chores to pay her back or ask she does it for your bithday, holiday etc. Lastly, if she says no the first time, do not get angry. Ask her why not? Maybe you don't keep your room clean enough, or your grades aren't so hot and work on fixing these problems then ask again. Good Luck!
do u like to go to flea markets? there are alot of nice stuff there that doesn't cost alot and sometimes you can talk the person down on the prices. paint is not that expensive. as with the antique bed, you can paint it with the color that you like, to enhance the color that you would paint the room. get the right type of bedspread to blend in with your color scheme, use some pillows to bring all of this out. sit down with her again and talk to her explaining all this to her and go from there. be confident.
