How to build a simple closet?

Question:I am buying a house with a large master bedroom but no closet and I was thinking of using the corner of the room to build an 8 by 2 (approx.) closet. I was trying to avoid building any more than a small wall to stick out about 2 feet but I dont know if that will work...or how to hang a door? I dont think hanging a door from the ceiling will look good? any ideas?

What is large? 12x14?. There won't be enough room for a closet. 14x16?, after the closet is installed, the room will look smaller. Buy a nice piece of furniture to hold your clothes. It will add class, and not detract from the room size.
