What's the best place to get furniture on a budget?
Question:I am a student, and am about to move to my very first apartment soon. Anyone know any good places I can look to get furniture... Cheap but not cheap looking? lol
Answers:
Check out a little local paper in a posh part of town. Sometimes you can get great expensive furniture for nothing when rich people are moving and dont want to take it with them.
Also, I bought a lot of my furniture for my first place at IKEA. You can also search Yahoo Shopping and when you find the item you like, put the name of the item in as your search. This was you can look for the same item at a different store where it might be cheaper. The internet is the best place to search for the beat deal in town!
if you know of a good thrift store you can really find good furniture if you search and visit often.
try your local paper, you might also try local ebay sellers, we got a $2000 entertainment center off of ebay for $300.
Not sure where you live but Ikea has some nice "cost effective" furniture
look on www.craigslist.org in your area.
They have lots of good deals!
Good luck
Yard sales, flea markets (check your local newspaper for listings), Target.
I buy all of my furniture from flea markets and yard sales - sometimes they require repainting, but I much prefer classic old but used stuff to new, cheap-looking stuff.
go to yard sales or garage sale you can get some pretty nice stuff, or estate sale
I agree, thrift stores can be a great place to look. Another choice is IKEA - they make functional furniture at easy-on-the-wallet prices. My roommate and I did our first apartment with IKEA and got a lot of compliments AND paid cash for everything!
Don't buy IKEA... it's expensive.
Big Lots Furniture or a regular Big Lots actually is a good budget minded furniture store. They have decent furniture for a good price. We bought a couch there that was comparable to an Ashley couch for only $250 compared to the $600 for Ashley.
Click the link and see if you have one in your area if you don't know what Big Lots is.
