Anyone ever heard of a ceiling nitch?

Question:I'm a court reporter transcribing a record and I am trying to figure out what this guy is saying. It's a foam thing used in homes for concave ceilings or something...can't find anything on it! Is it really just called a nitch??

Answers:
I am a painting contractor who works in the luxury home market and I have never seen or heard of a foam recessed niche in the ceiling, however if it is a barrell vaulted ceiling, which would be concave, many tines if a crown or cove moulding is installed it is made of foam so it can be bent to the contour of the ceiling, otherwise ,this is very new but there is a foam type of bendable drywall that comes in 4x8foot sheets that can be bent to actually provide the curve to the rounded ceiling or wall, other than that I am stumped.

Yes it really is just called a nitch. It is a opening on a surface that allows something to be put in it.
Try spelling it "niche." That's usually the architectural term. It's kind of like a little recess, when they're on the wall, they're for holding stuff. Like my 1940s house has a telephone niche in the hallway.
