It's a lot easier to do with two people. Here's a site with a few tips. http://hometips.com/articles/cabinstall.
You can do it, but you'll need a few tools that the average home owner might not have.
Not too hard if you are somewhat handy.First thing to do is mark all the stud locations using a stud finder and a pencil.Make sure that you mark the locations above and below where the cabinets sit so you can see them later.Next,Find the height that you want the cabinets to sit. This would be for the wall cabinets only.Mark this line on the wall in a couple of places. Then snap a chalkline on that location.Next,Get a 2x4 wood stud that is straight and attach w/screws along that line you just marked. Then,an extra hand will come in handy-pick up each cabinet and place on 2x4.This will hold up most of the weight while you set the screws for each cabinet.Make sure you level each w/a level just to be sure. When complete,do the bottom cabinets.Make sure to level side to side and front to back.Having wood shims on hans are a plus.Never use screws that are more than 1" loger than the wood that the screw goes through. If you hit a pipe or wire you'll have to start over, plus have a good leak or even a fire.A good how to book will help in explaining in greater detail.Follow the diagrams and make sure you install the filler pieces as you go along.Again,if you are handy and have an extra hand, you can save a lot od dough.Take your time and use a level.Good luck.
Definitely use a level, preferably at least a 4 foot. Measure where you want to place the cabinets and establish a plumb line where the bottom of the cabinet will rest mark it darkly with a pencil as well as locating where your studs are in the wall, mark those visibly as well. Then lift the cabinet to the line, hold it in place with your shoulder and use the other to secure the cabinet with screws. It is easier to do it with two people, but not necessary.
