Im the WORST with colors for room?

Question:Im planning on getting a red bed with a storage box under it that comes attached to the bed. Now the problem is, what colors can I paint the wall (PLEASE, NOOOOT RED NOR BLACK!!) but at the same time look good and match. Also what colors do i get for the desk and dressers?

Ughhh, i hate interior designing, im crummy at it! lol

Oh by the way, this is a room for a teenager, so it would be something modern...hopefully!
And i dont mind having red on the wall, just not the WHOLE wall cuz it seems too "overwhelming" for me i guess...?

Thank you so much, u guys are really helping me out in this one!

(i have an option of getting the tan bed instead with the black storage box, but i dont think that is very "teenager-y" i want the room to be cozy yet not dull.

Answers:
You can paint the walls khaki with white molding. Around the room you can add red and black accents like pictures with black frames or pictures or items with red in them.

lots of colors go well with red, depending upon the mood that you want. Brown, green, purple, and yellow are all great choices. Let me hunt down some photos...

Here is an Asian-style bedroom with wallpaper. You could you use the same type of latte colored paint:

Here's a cool teenager's bedroom, with a bright red chair and aqua colored walls:

I *love* this Admiral Blue paint, and I think it would look great with red:

okedoky
so wat you do is paint the walls navy blue
and for the dresser and desk you should get black or white!
it'll work soo well
First - go down to the local paint or hardware store and look at the paint chips -lots of choices and they will even show whole rooms. You may be able to get some inspiration there. Next go take a look at any decorating magazine - there may even be free old issues at the local library. You will find that decorating does not really change much so don't worry about really old issues. It sounds like you are doing this room for someone else - have them chose a fabric - or picture or pillow or what ever - that they really LOVE and use those colors to do the room. If what they really love does not contain any red, don't bother trying to do a room around it. But if they do like red, you will be surprised at the combinations that look good. Red White Blue - Red Green Blue - Red Yellow - just about anything if the intensities are right. So get looking to see what others have done already. Good Luck.
any of the browns ,tans, and taupe goes extremely well with the reds. HGTV has a color chooser thing on it where you can see the colors together. it probably won' t show the red bed but will give you a sense of what the colors look like together. I think lowes.com has one also.
I've used a color called "Winter wheat"..which was a warm dark tan color. I use only Lowe's American Tradition, Signature series latex with a flat finish.

With a red bed, and a beige or tan type wall color...your desk and other furniture could be a dark mahogany, red walnut, black walnut..etc... and you might finish it off with a "jungle" motif...zebra stripes...
or a ranch theme...longhorn hides..etc.

Accent the room with pillows, picture frames, a bulletin board, lamp shades etc. in dark red, off white, tan, black and natural wood tones .
