What color should I paint my trim/molding?
Question:So here is some of the room, and the furniture that will be in the room... http://img106.imageshack.us/my.php?image... My other question got some answers making me think of the trim/molding.. I am painting my walls a light blue/sky blue, having black shelves, and then i have my black end/coffee tables.. I was originally going to paint the trim white.. but maybe I should paint it like a khaki color? I'm not sure! Ideas for my room in general? I think I'm going for a "beachy" feel.
Answers:
with your beautiful wooden floors the beachy colors would look lovely. If you are going for the blue walls I think the fresh white would still look best or a delicious cream.
white or beige
It works to paint the trim one or two shades different blue then the blue that you are going to use on your walls. That way it's not such a stark difference from the blue walls to white trim. You could also go for a shade of grey trim because that would go well with your blue and with your black tables and it still wouldn't have that stark difference. The nice thing about paint is that if you don't like it, change it.
White is my color of choice for the trim. I have a beachy room with white trim and it looks great.
I second the gray answer...I think it would be a good tie between the blue and the black furniture in the room, plus it won't be such a dramatic contrast.
include some orange in the hue even if its not noticeable .
Leave the molding white. You're already going to have enough color with the walls and furniture, and with whatever wall hangings you put up.
leave it white but use a high gloss paint. easier to wipe when cleaning also adds depth to room. looks good also with your colors if that is your room.
