Water beds are great, but... if you move often or like to rearrange your room occasionally, water beds are not for you. You need to maintain constant temperature, with the heater, to avoid moisture build up. Then there is the possibility of leaks (never had one). I kinda' miss my water beds' very comfortable, but not the hassles. If you're staying put, go for it.
Buy a spring bed! they're the best.
NO you don't! get a tempurpedic at least try one at the furniture bed store like ART VANS if you have one in your area. You wake up in the same position you fell asleep in.

This may sound crazy, but before you buy a waterbed make sure that your floor is structurally able to hold all that weight. And I agree with the above, a foam mattress is the way to go. Costco has a queen mattress for $500. And it is relatively easy to make your own platform frame for underneath for around $75 in lumber (if your handy).
a waterbed...that is so retro.
Waterbeds are great. I`ve had one for twenty years, and would fight to keep it. I`ve never had a problem with it. The main drawback to a waterbed is that it isn`t easily moved. It takes a while to set up and fill, then 24 hrs. or so to warm up. It will also take a while to adjust the temperature to your level of comfort. I recommend buying the 'waveless' mattress. It quits moving as soon as you do. As far as the weight is concerned, the manufacturers say because the weight is distributed, it presents no more problem than the average refrigerator. Also, if you`re the kind of person who like to re-arrange the furniture very often, don`t get one.
