LCD 42" flat screen?
Question:Where can you find an inexpensive LCD 42" flat screen? I have looked all over and I've come for help. Also, do you think that it would look good on my fireplace mantel? My living room has an odd layout and I need a way to conserve space. Do you think it would be uncomforable to stare up at a t.v. on top of the fireplace? Please help me with this!!

What do you consider inexpensive? Bestbuy had a sale, and you could get a 42" Philips LCD for 1200 dollars. Try Costco. You could find deals. The fourth of July weekend is coming and I imagin many stores will have sales. If you don't wanna spend that much money, try Craigslist and get it used.
I wouldn't suggest putting the LCD above your fireplace if the fireplace is in use at all. Although yout idea is similar to those who put up a big mirror above the wall, but you don't stare up all the time into the mirror. Plus, there will be wires, cables that you need to worry about. I would try to find a flat wall and mount it. you can even hook up your desktop computer to the LCD and elimiate the traditional monitor and the computer desk that comes with it if you want to conserve space.
not at all , i think it is a cool way or doing this . i would too but i would hate looking up ...
A plasma tv might be a better choice. The LCD's should be looked at straight on from what I understand because they show streaks if you look at it from an angle. A lot of people are placing them over their fireplaces. They have pivotal brackets that tilt. But then you will be spending more money.
The screens run around $1500.00 to $2000.00 LG has a good one and I am told Panasonic. They should really be hung at about 36" high. But, if this is your only place, you will get used to it. Mine is high, wish it could have been lower. Most of the establishments hang them high.
Check out Peerless.com for mounting brackets
I would try pricegabber.com, you will have several store competing. I have bought alot of things this way. I don't think it would be a very good place at all on a fireplace mantle (if you use the fireplace). Take a look at Samsung, I have done my research and they are great for the money.
