i have a small room to and i painted it a light blue , like a sky blue its really soothing and nice to sleep in. As long as you stick with light colours you should be fine. Light purple is really nice and also green. Your room will appear larger if u go "up" with your furniture for example skinny shelving rather then something bulky.
Stick with earth tones, they go well with any furniture, no matter how crazy the color is, beige is usually a good color.
I always like everything white cuz it looks clean and it makes the room appear larger. Maybe just paint the wall behind the bed a different color, or maybe some border paper. A chair rail also looks nice around the room too.
Any light color will make it appear larger than it is. Dark colors tend to close in walls. Perhaps a pale leaf green or a sky blue.

and choose a colour to suit your mood.

Lavender or light pink since a bedroom is for relaxing.
One way to have beautiful color in your bedroom without bland white walls is to use a monochromatic color scheme, or use different colors that all show an equal brightness.
So you could use all pale blue or some shades of mocha, or stick to high intensity colors in the same range such as yellow and orange. What you want to do if you use this method, however is to tie in your accesories and bedding with this color.
To add depth, try painting one wall a deep color - deep colors tend to reced which will make your wall feel further away and also adds an unusual touch.
One trick for making your room seem larger is to paint the walls a tone that appears to make them recede - grayish or blue gray shades are great for this.
