How do I decorate walls made of cynderblock? Paints, Pictures, Borders?
Question:I have a duplex and need to decorate it. I want to make my apt as nice as possible.
Answers:
I have seen a friend do this on concrete wall. She stained her's and you don't have to prime it or anything. Paint would probably peel off. Stain soaks in, may need a second coat if not satisfied with first.
What about not doing borders just great molding that you screw into cement,or something on that level.
You could go rustic and that would be great, antique, or really anyway you want it. Today you can mix and match to be in style.
You decorate you cake not your home. It is not "cynderblock", it is concrete masonry units. Please research the difference between design and decorate.
in order to hang things on concrete block or masonry you will need a drill and a concrete bit..they also sell special hangers that go onto those types of walls at a home improvement store. Concrete and masonry require special paint as well, its not expensive but you have to make sure its primed. With that type of interior construction I would think that modern or industrial styles would be cool. I don't know if wall paper borders are an option on that maybe a stenciled design. Check out HGTV's site they have a lot of decorating shows, and a search engine for all their shows episode, plug in "concrete block walls" or "modern or industrial design", and see what comes up. good luck...
Use all of the above! Paint it a nice color, put up a contrasting border and then put pictures up on it. I like black frames. You will need to pre-drill holes for the picture hangers with a masonry bit. I don't trust those stickey back ones. Have fun with it, Let it say , This is my place! Bye
