Can I lay laminate go over old hard wood floors?

Question:I have older hard wood floors under my carpet and I would really like to have laminate floors installed. Can they be installed over damaged-lookiing hard wood floors that have staples and nails in it?

Answers:
yes you can may have to trim the bottom of the doors what kind of wood floor is it cold sand it down and vanish it i think you have to be carfull some cheap laminet can react badly to water bubble up and blisters have to put a spounge foam sheet stuff down under it to prevent this watch out for this when you buy it

yes you can I would pull out all the old nails and staples first though.
We just put laminate in one of my bedrooms because carpet was too expensive and I bought the wood on sale. We installed it over a pad so it wouldn't squeek or crack (problems with hard surface to hard surface). But talk to your store, maybe you can use the carpet pad...You will also need to remove any staples or nails and may have to undercut any molding or doors so it fits.
yes you definitely can, been there done that
