Removing wall paper?
Question:Whats the easiet and quickest way to take down wallpaper in a kitchen or bathroom? also, what would i need to do to the walls before i could paint them after removing paper?
Answers:
I second the DIF made by Zinzer.
Excellent. My old house previous owner never removed any wallpaper before putting new stuff on. The living room had 7 layers of wallpaper which was painted over in white.
Buy the accompanying tool which pokes holes in the wallpaper allowing the DIF to soak in. This stuff worked like magic on those 7 layers.
Follow the directions on the bottle, makes removing wallpaper easy? LOL.
When stripped, seal with a primer paint and then follow with final color coat.
Good luck.
Buy Diff at your local hardware store. If you score the wall with a wallpaper scoring tool and then spray it with a Diff/water mixture it will soften up the glue and you can use a putty knife to scrape the paper off. It is a tough job and will probably require you to do some sanding when the wallpaper is down.
The easiest way that I found is to use a spray bottle filled with water, and a metal scraper. Spray, peel and scrap. That is what we did, and it went pretty easy, once we got started.
Before painting you have to remove the glue the wall paper leaves behind. They have a spray at Lowe's that will help with that.
Squirt the wall paper with a spray bottle full of water. Then, wait for a few minutes and use your fingers and peel the wallpaper off. Easy as that!

Roll paper with a perforation tool(bought at most paint store`s,Lowe`s,etc).Wet the paper with warm water.remove gently by pulling away and GENTLY scraping stubborn spot`s.After removal, let dry and spackle any spot`s that you may have made in sheetrock, sand spot`s smooth. The last step is to prime wall`s with good primer.Make job easier by tinting primer to top coat color
You need a paper tiger, a wall scraper, a spray bottle, water, and vinegar. Score the paper with a paper tiger. Put 2 parts hot water and 1 part vinegar (loosens the adhesive) in a spray botlle. Spray an area and wait a few minutes before you begin to scrape.
When the paper is off and the wall is dry, lightly sand it and then apply a sealing paint primer and you are ready to paint. When we moved into our house 3yrs ago, we had to remove paper from every single room! I never liked paper and after that, I won't ever use it.
dif by zinzer is brilliant use with hot water use perforation tool too once it is scraped off sand down the walls
seal plaster with a mist coat (watered down emulsion really thin) put one coat of your colored paint on the walls then fill where you have got rough patches
touch up the filler with the colored paint wait till dry then give it one more coat
I saw this tip on HGTV and it works great even on really old wallpaper. Wet the paper to peel it off the top layer of wallpaper and then use a spray bottle of fabric softner and water to take off the glue backing still on the wall. Wet it pretty well, i am not sure about the mixture so you may have to tweek it a little to get the right concentration. Scoring and scraping is messy and takes too long and doesn't always work that well. Then prime the wall with primer, depending on which kind of paint you want to use, water-based or oil-based, go with water-based it is used more commonly.
