Decorating my bedroom?

Question:I am a girl and I really want to change around my bedroom by decorating it. I am really into unique stuff because I love art. I do paintings a lot but I don't put them up very often. I have barely any money to decorate my room so I pretty much have to do it with stuff around the house. I want something colorful, unique and very artsy. Please Help me think of ideas thanks.

What i did in my apt was pin up different color construction paper. With it a little goes a long way, and it is pretty cheap! After I got it all up, i only did one wall though, I started getting whoever came over to sign their name and put a qoute up. I like it and a lot of my friends do. Plus, its fun to read some ppls qoutes

Put up your art! Don't be shy about your work - be proud you have a talent. I bet it is great. And - make sure you sign your name to it!
You could be really happy just rearranging what's already there. When I was a teenager, I used to rearrange my bedroom furniture every six months or so, and loved the adventure of designing and redesigning without spending a dime.

Maybe you could pick compositional themes - like push all the furniture against the wall -v- pushing it together in the middle of the room, like an island.

You could consider the walls as canvases and compose them with elements you already own or can find around the house.

Paint is cheap and can be a powerful tool. Remember you don't have to paint in solid colors. You can paint patterns, too. I once painted my dining room in freehand (no tape) vertical stripes, and the effect was stunning. Enjoy your room and express yourself!
The cheapest way to fix up a room is with paint! It's the #1 way to make a big change with the least amount of money. If you can't afford a ton of paint, then look on craigslist or go to garage sales, you would be suprised how much leftover paint people sell for a fraction of the price or are willing to just give away!
If you can't paint the room, try tacking up a flat sheet, and hang photos around the edges, or some of your art work to add color to the room.
Another really great way to add color is to take cheap plywood cut into small squares 5x5 works really well, attach hardware to hang on wall, some string hot glued to the wood works just fine. and then glue old fabric (it doesn't matter where you get the fabric, cut up some old dresses that don't fit any longer, that works fine, or get a few sheets at the goodwill or raid the free boxes at garage sales) hang these in a cool patern on the wall, either making large squares, dimonds, or whatever you can think of!
if you bought or used a sheet for this project, use the left overs to sew round and square throw pillows for your bed to tie the whole look togeather.
The key to decorating a room is just being really creative, and trying to come up with ways to really make the place visually interesting.
oh yeah also HANG UP THAT ART! people pay good money for art when they don't have the talent to do it themselves, you you are in a lucky place to already have a ton of it on hand. :)
You put a lot of restrictions on what help we can offer.
If you can find the money, paint your walls. Since you don't have much to work with, choose a paint that will match something you already have such as your bedspread.
Hang your art up, why are you holding back on doing that?
Do you have pictures of friends?
If so, you can either buy a cork board, or you can paint a square on your wall, then put up your photos.
See if you can find or use christmas lights, the tiny ones, multi-colored. You can also find lights in the shape of jalapeno peppers, or many other shapes usually in party stores.
If it is possible, check out flea markets, or tag sales for interesting posters, pieces of material, furniture. You can usually get these at VERY reasonable prices. There are usually a lot of really interesting things for inexpensive prices that you can find through tag sales or flea markets.
If you find interesting material, you can hang it on your wall, over your bed, or use it to recover pillows, bedspread whatever.
Another interesting a cheap item is a fishing net. Again, you can usually find these at craft stores or party stores, they sometimes already have shells on them, if you don't want the shells, there are other things you can hang from it.
Maybe use them as curtains and hang sun catchers and/or tiny chimes.
See if you can go to a fabric/craft store, many times they have ribbons and dry or "silk" flowers or garlands on sale depending on what season it is.
These are just a few suggestions.
Also, if you have to use only what is already in your home, then see what is up in the attic, down in the basement, stored in your garage. See if there are things there you can use.
Good luck.

First of all I think you should put up your own art, it's a great way to dress up your room and add your own touch of style to it. If you have a good dollar store near you, you may be able to find a cheap frame for your artwork and paint it a funky metallic color to dress it up. Also, I know you said you have little to no money to decorate but maybe you could paint one accent wall in your room,(you would just need 1 quart of paint which is no more than $12-$15) preferably on the wall where your bed is. The accent color should be darker than the other walls in your room and something that will make the room stand out. If you have some funky plates (with a cool design on them) you could also put a few on your wall, plates dress up a room. Again, I've seen some great plates at the dollar store, you should only need 2 or 3.
