Can I lay laminate flooring on top of my current berber?
Question:
Answers:
Definitely not. Make sure to pull up the carpet prior to installing any type of flooring. Keep in mind that laminates are laid as floating floors and are not directly adhered to your subfloor. Once the carpet flattens out, your laminate floor will follow the contour of what you have underneath. So expect an uneven flooring. Not a very good sight. Pulling them up will give you a good look of what you have underneath the carpet and allow you to check your subfloor for moisture concerns or any other issues that needs to be addressed before installation. Remember, prevention is better than cure :)
Goodluck on your project!

NOOOO!
wtf is a berber
lol - you're joking, right?
sure.let me know how it works out for you.
you have to take the carpeting off first
That does not sound like a good ideas. Carpeting is not a solid base for a laminate floor. You need to pull it up as well as any padding and tack strips to prep the floor for the laminate.
Over carpet - no.
no, you have to remove the carpet first. It may be possible to lay the laminate over the plywood underneath, but you will need a moisture barrier stapled down first
no it would not glue and it would fell like you where walking on a mattress
No, you can't. You have to remove the carpeting, padding, & tackless. Then you must clean the floor really well before installing a laminate floor. Have you thought of hiring someone to do your flooring for you? I think you should.
no.
No, I just laid one of these floors for my parents. You need to pull up the carpet and any padding and vaccuum really well, then you need to lay down underlayment specifically for laminate (or floating) floors. We came across a couple of pieces that wouldn't snap in, one due to a sliver underneath the underlayment and one due to a nail head sticking up, both had to be taken care of before we could get it to snap in and lay correctly so I couldn't even imagine trying to get it to lay right over carpet. The good news is, my sister and I did a 311 square foot space in a weekend, no professionals needed. Good luck!
