I have faux wood blinds throughout my entire house, except for a few windows where it's impossible to see inside. A faux wood blind will be cheaper, and you won't be able to tell that they aren't real. The white ones really brighten up a room - and they look great if the sun is shining in on them, but the dark wood ones are contemporary and stylish - however, they may fade from sunlight. You don't necessarily have to have the same window treatments throughout your entire home. There may be some rooms where you can get away with just having curtains or sheers that you can keep open and only close if you need privacy. Blinds also don't block 100% of the light, so if you need to make the room extra dark, you might opt for shades in that room, with some darker curtains to hang over them. You can also measure the window yourself and have Lowe's or Home Depot cut the blinds for you in the store. (Be sure to measure the inside of the window - you don't want the blinds to hang over the outside of the edges of the window, it looks tacky.) And, most of the come with very easy instructions. It might be helpful to have a friend (or husband or boyfriend) help you install them to drive the screws into the wood.
1.Faux wood is better. It'll last longer. looks just like wood. (even white ones looks like its painted wood)
2. yes you can buy it at home depot. (if it is too large or too small they may have to custom order it, which will get expensive) It's easy to install. you do need some tools like a drill.
just measure your window and they will know to cut it 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter so it fits inside.
3. depends on your decore, I would try to match the color. White goes with anything.
4.It's not really an In thing. but most ppl go with it cuz it easy and cost less. and easy to match the whole house.
