What are the advantages and disadvantages of living on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor??

Question:I'm rubbing towards the 1st floor, jsut because i can jump around and be louder, and groceries and moving in and out is a sinch.. (i'm a dancer, so i'm always dancing around hehe and i also have people over all the time.. wanna come join the fun!?! ) :) and i live in tx, so it's very hot.

Answers:
I have lived on the first floor of a 2 floor unit and the third floor of a 3 floor unit. First floor is extremely conveinent for all the reasons you listed and also if you have a dog who needs to be taken out to the bathroom. But, you can hear everything that goes on above you! I can hear the girl upstairs walking around, I know when she has heels on, I can hear her toilet flush and know when she's taking a shower, plus I can hear her having sex. Yuck! If you can tolerate that then go for first floor.

Now third floor moving sucks. It sucks really hard. Bringing in groceries etc isn't that big of a deal because you probably only have to do it a few times a month. Also, you can't really hear what goes on beneath you so that's good. But those living under you will be able to hear you all the time! Plus, they say heat rises so your a/c will be on all the time but that's how it is in TX anyways.

Oooh and I seem to remember something about it being more likely that you'll get rodents/insects etc in your apt if you live on the bottom floor.

I would think the second floor would be the worst because you have the worst of both worlds!

1st floor you are easier to break into 3 rd floor you get all the heat that rises up, take a second floor, less steps than the third floor with more security than the 1st floor.

I would never live in an apartment building where people were walking over me. You may be leaning towards the first floor, but you still have to remember that noise travels, especially loud noise, so be considerate of the other tenants.
Yes, sounds like the 1st floor may be best for you. I see the same advantages for the first floor as you have described.

The only main disadvantage I see is the traffic from others or noise from those above you, but it sounds like you are ready to have fun so wouldn't mind.

Also, you might want to keep in mind that warm air rises, so usually the higher you go, the more potential you have for difficulty keeping your place cool.
when I lived in TX I wanted the top floor. For one thing I didnt want to hear other people walk around. Also like the person said on the top floor you really cant get broken into, unless the break down the door...you should be safe. You will use the A/C alot cuz it will be hot up there. As far as carrying in yer groceries etc.look at it as extra workout!! Good luck!

ps... I have lived in the bottom floor before and the noise from upstairs was UNREAL...we could even here there love making!
1st floor advantages:
Moving in / Moving out
Groceries
No stairs
heating costs are less upstairs

1st floor disadvantages
Easier to rob
Neighbors above moving around
neighbors avove in patio, their stuff can drop into yours

2nd floor advantage
no noisy person above
less ease of breaking in
less people on that level

2nd floor disadvantage
moving in / out
groceries
flight of stairs
cooling costs are more upstairs

3rd floor decks/ patios on apts are not as nice usually up there, but most I have seen are on opposite ends of lower decks so it's more quiet.

Gah, that reminds me, my lease expires on the 30th, and it's already getting hot. Summer time is not a fun time to move.
