How much $ would you charge to paint?
Question:I know I am being really trusting in a friend here. I have off all summer and my friend really wanted to get a few rooms painted in his house. I offered to paint them as my "summer job" bc he works everyday. He asked me to paint his fiorer, hallway, staircase, and as many as 3 bedrooms (bedrooms are not priority). This includes 2 coats on all trim and walls and ceilings (hopefully one coat). No price was set but I told him I know he'll compensate me well. He wants me to set a price and I have no idea what I should charge. I have already spent approx. 12 hours just on 2 coats of trim??? What do you think is a reasonable price...I'm not trying to break his bank.
Answers:
This depends on your skill and speed as a painter. If you are not very fast and don't do an expert job, low end would be $10 per hour. If you are fairly fast, don't damage anything and do a bang up job $15 or more per hour.
$10.00/hr It's a little more then you make at a fast food restaruant and it's just as easy of a job.
I had a painter come in and due three bedrooms, small hallway, living room and 2 bathrooms and he charged me $460. flat rate. The bathrooms needed 2 coats, cause the people before me used wall paper and I peeled that off for him. He did this for me as a friend.
I furnished all the paint that he needed. He furnished all the tools he would need.
If I had it done it would have cost me twice as much.
Since you are paying for the paint and not him, then $14.50 an hour would be just right.
