What is the name of the thing that joins two twin beds to make a king bed?
Question:My husband and I are going to buy a king bed. Our problem is that we have a very tight staircase and can't fit a proper king up the stairs. We heard that you can buy two extra long twin beds and put them together to make a king size bed. Someone told me they did the same thing and to buy this thing that you put between the two beds so that you don't feel the gap in the middle where the two mattresses join. I need to know what that things is called or where to get one. Thanks!

I have friends who had the same problem, they were able to fit the king sized mattress up the stairs by folding it around corners but for the box springs the stores sell them in 2 pieces so you can get them up the stairs.
If that won't work then try something like this:

It's called a 'Create-A-King'... but you don't want to sleep on it for more than a night or two.
Cotton's right... I've seen king-sized mattresses 'squoze' (LOL!) through even the smallest, tightest, windy-est of access routes and the box spring comes in two pieces so moving these more rigid pieces up a staircase shouldn't pose a problem.
Really, I've tried sleeping on a "converted" king and it's great so long as... well... ummm... well, so long as you & hubby don't plan on "meeting in the middle," if you get m'drift. ;-) Ever. For any reason.
If I had to make the choice between making my own support/bed frame and using a Convert-A-King... I'd definitely choose to make m'own.
Hope this helps,
