Absolutely not! Dishwashers draw a lot of electricity, especially if you use the heat dry. Plus the fact there may be water leaking from the unit that can cause electrocution, or even a fire.
Don't use an extension cord. There is the possibility of a power drop in the cord and this can fry the motor on the DW. Any warranty will be voided using the cord.

We're in the midst of a kitchen reno and a first time built in dishwasher ourselves. Our electrician friend said that new codes require a dishwasher to have it's own circuit. So, you may not only have to hardwire your dishwasher, you may need to seek electrical help in making sure you're up to code. Sorry for the bad news, but better safe than sorry!
