My carpet is gray, couch is brick red, walls are taupe. What color and kind of curtains do I use?

I would go with the brick red to match the couch you might find some with a hint of the grey to match the carpet, You could go sheers or a theater to block out the sun.
I would do the same color as the couch but maybe put a boarder or some thing on the curtains to break up the bright red.

I'm already dizzy thinking about it.Too many contrasting colors!!Either a pink or light red shear or white lace or white shear.Each room should have complementary colors,get a color wheel at an art supply store and you'll see what I mean.It will show suggested colors for anything you want to match.Some paint stores will also do it to help you match paint.Try your local DIY store.
You should match them closer to the colour of the walls, taupe. Unless you are trying to make a statement with your curtains, like trying to add drama or create a focal point on your window, in which case you can incorporate the brick red colour into the fabric.
