It is very bitter.

Or buy a stress ball, or something similar to have something your hand can hold and focus on, so you don't have any free hands to bite.

Good luck!

Control It

Put a substance like this on your fingernails and believe me you won't want to bite them again. I don't promote web sites for profit, but see the information in the site below. Good luck. My mother put bleach on my hands to stop me. But she was a real mean person.
I used to bite my nails in grade-school right down until they would bleed. In the 7th grade I met a friend that had the most beautiful nails. I was so jealous that I finally decided that enough-was-enough. I didn't quit cold turkey however, as I found I then bite the skin along the sides of the nails instead. I still to this day bite the cuiticle skin around the nail and I probably will never stop. I have heard of all kinds of things from hot sauce to placing bandaids on your fingers. Seems ridiculous. When you get rid of one bad habit, it seems another takes its place especially one that is just a nervous condition. That's all the advice I can give you. It take will power and replacing the habit with something else.
wear boxing gloves
put your fingers in a gross place, so that if you bite your fingernails, you will be in for a gross surprise that tastes nasty.
