Is it okay to paint radiators/skirting boards and door frames using emulsion?
Question:
Answers:
this type of paint is not really suitable for this purpose...
you require wood paint (flexible) for skirting
and rad paint (comes in loads of colours too!!) as it's heat resistant and flexible
Skirting boards anddoor frames are fine although it may take a few coats to do a good job but as far as i know, you need to get a special radiator paint.
radiators - no as will peel off easily.
skirting boards/door frames - could do if you wanted to but satinwood is better if you dont want the shine of gloss
Yes, absolutely. There's no law saying you have to use Gloss.....BUT: Gloss is more resistant to the knocks and scrapes you might get on a skirtings etc.
No.
I would say that you need to use paint. Emulsion is water based but paint is oil based. Paint will be better on the door and you may need enamel for the radiator. I'd pop in your local hardware store and ask for advice. As for your skirting boards, I'd do paint on them.
Emulsion is for internal walls. There is a special paint out for radiators. If you are painting wooden skirting and doorframes then you need to use undercoat first, then use gloss paint after, the best type is the non drip.
You can but it may look streaky and not last, depends on the colour, i used wood and metal non drip gloss on the rad and it took a while to bake on and get rid of the smell so yep use the special rad paint.
u cheap skate
no emulsion is only for walls and ceilings. use eggshell, satinwood or glose as this is more hard wearing and wont scratch or mark or peel off the radiator
for the rads use rad paint. for the wood work always undercoat and whatever finish u like . ie:satin / gloss etc
no you need to use proper radiator paint for rads the otheres are ok
Emulsion paint may not be able to stand a lot of heat. It is best to buy paint suitable for radiators.
