How can I fix splintered tops on wooden furniture?
Question:I have two pieces of furniture, a cedar chest and a wooden cabinet, that were scuffed up on the tops and have all kinds of nicks and splinters. The wooden cabinet had falled out of a truck bed onto the road, the cedar chest was purchased this way. What is the best solution to fix these two items?
Answers:
From your description, a wood putty would fit your needs. Apply with a spatula, let it set, and then sand it down so it is flush with the rest of the furniture. The hard part is matching the stain. Otherwise, you may have to either strip it down with a paint or stain stripper, sand it all down, and restain it. You may opt to repaint it for an easier fix. If you choose the latter, make sure you do all the prep work properly (1.sanding to get a good tooth/grip for it to hold the paint 2.a good primer 3.paint)
You can sand them ,woodfill them and restain them.
