How to decorate small room?
Question:Hi guys,
I just moved in to a house (will only be here a year) but my room is pretty small. Heck, perhaps I would consider it tiny.
It should be around 100 sq ft.
I have a Full Bed, and am planning to purchase a new desk.
Are there any ideas as to what I could do to make the room look a tad more spacious and at the same time a contemporary yet clean bedroom that will also serve as a study area.
I really enjoy black and white photography, but I don't know how frames on the wall will make my room look more spacious.
Answers:
I did my guest room as a theme room. I have no idea if you have things from a special place, but my theme room I did in Mardi Gras. I love it and everyone that has stayed there has loved it. Use your imagination.
Paint the room a light color, like white, marshmallow, or sky blue. It opens up the room and helps prevent claustrophobia. The frames won't be a problem.
The key is light colors. Dark colors always make rooms appear darker. The best paint for the walls would be a light warm color (like yellow, red, orange..etc) but light cooler colors will probably make the room look bigger as well.
People often paint their houses white before selling them because to the buyer the rooms look bigger.
You don't want a whole bunch of clutter either so make sure you have plenty of storage for things. I don't think the pictures will be a problem unless you cover your walls with them.
Lots of light and brightness in the room will also make it appear larger.
paint it bright colors like a soft yellow or maybe light blue... the frames wont be a problem... dont hv too much furniture and if its possible, put you dresser in you closet.
A wall mirror might give an illusion of space, and you can match the frame to your photo display. Use light colors to open up space, and keep the curtains or draperies light and airy to let in as much natural light as possible. Also, be careful with patterned fabrics on your bed linens.
