Will a platform bed fit a boxspring & mattress or just a mattress? What about a low-profile bed? help me!?
Question:i have just purchased a king sized mattress and boxspring set and I am looking for a bed. I have looked at some very nice platform beds that I would like to purchase as well But im not sure it they are made for a boxspring as well... or just a mattress alone.
Answers:
The platform bed is made for just a mattress but you could certainly use a box and mattress on it. You can find a neat little step stool if the bed doesn't come with one to climb in, like the princess and the pea.
I have a slatted king size bed with just a mattress on it but the mattress is 20" deep and it and the bed are quite high so I have a stool that came with the bed and it's gotten lots of compliments.
You may be able to return your box spring if you just recently purchased it. Call the store and tell them and they may be able to help you out and even pick it up for you.
I also have a double size box spring and deep mattress in the guest room that is on a carpeted floor and it's plenty high. I put a mosquito net over it from a hook on the ceiling and some nice linens and pillows and it looks great.
If you use the box springs, it will make your mattress higher off the floor, so the dust ruffle goes under the box springs. The taller mattress will impress most of your friends.
They usually are for just mattresses, if you use the box springs it will be really high to climb into. You can use what they call a hollywood frame, in your case it would be 2 twin size as a king bed 2 twin box springs .Then you could buy just a headboard for the frames.
