Joint compound texturing?

Question:anyone have any easy techniques for texuring with joint compound? this is the pre-mixed joint compound in a red, black 7 white bucket

Answers:
i use that all the time for Venetian plaster. It's less expensive than buying the Venetian Plaster paint . I jst mix my own paint in it. But if u do that, u must rmbr, the plaster will come out mch lighter than the paint color.

I use a trowel or a texture roller or even a reg. roller ( i like the texture roller better) then slap it on the wall over a base coat. Leaving some of the base coat wall showing thru. Then I slap on some more AFTER the lst coat is dried. U can leave it as is or sand it or scrap it off w/ a putty knife or shine it up w/ the flat of a putty knife. I also have put a glaze mix over it then did the later.

I've done the wisk broom thing as well. I've done the plastic bag thing where u crinkle it up & put into the plaster on the wall. As it is slightly drying lighting trowel the stick up plaster down. I've used... combs.. or stiff brush for a acid wash look... or.. u can put stuff into the plaster as it drys like seashells or such.

Then u can paint it when it's done or add color as u go... Jst b creative. have fun!

I have put a thin or mayonnaise texture coat on the wall and then use a whisk broom to make half circles. Takes a little practice, But looks good and hides tape bumps and other voids well
