Answers:
ok, you must love the couches. Admire them fully! So...

1) Get rid of that boring area rug. Get one with splashes of color, modern design, matching the couch/chair.

2) Get a lamp that matches the metal on the bottoms of your couch, chair, and footstool. Something modern... your current lamp is not the same style.

3) Put some art on the wall. Make it contemporary or kid-type stuff... big splashes of red and blue and bright colors, either abstract or with animals (like the pillows!)

4) Get a chrome and glass TV stand and bookcase.

Right now you have modern chair/couch/stools and a more traditional bookcase and rug and tv stand, in a house that looks pretty modern. So go with modern for everything and use the bright red/blue to tie it together.

Enjoy!

COLOR, COLOR, AND MORE COLOR.
Tan or a beige color is neutral.
Just tidy it up. I think the look is going good. Get some chic new paintings that go with the 'primary color theme'. That's all I would do. Just go with simple. You may want to try painting the trim, maybe yellow or green? You don't want to paint the walls that color because the room is kind of small, and you don't want to over whelm it! some new pillows, to match the trim if you decide to paint it. Just go shopping for some fresh ideas!! And don't be afraid to have a major garage sell! Try persuadeing your husband, to get new furniture. You can sell your exsisting furniture, and get some major cash to start over!
Get a rug with blocks of color in it, something modern looking maybe like this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref...

to make the room look less empty, also try a larger tv stand, something that will hold all your movies and things so they are not in seperate parts of the room. It looks cleaner to have it all together.
I would suggest putting those couches in the kid's room and getting a more sophisticated one to put in the living room. You need a coffee table too. and a nice colored rug to put on the floor as well. Looks like the kids play in that area? LOL just make sure you have them clean up after they are done, my little girl leaves everything in the floor in my living room. The couches really look like they are for teenagers or kids. If you don't want to move the couches, go shopping for something that compliments the couches, like a contemporary painting, or something from Germany. Looks like you have some deciding to do about what colors you will choose to go with BOTH OF the couches together. You might consider getting a purple rug, since blue and red make purple. Good luck!
i would move the tall plant to underneath the other speaker (near where the dog and clothes are)

i would paint the wall behind the couch in a blue shade ..then i would hang a tapestry on a rod to kind of hide the vent and thermostat

then i would install 2 sconces to the left of the tapestry or 2 attractive lightweight resin wall planters and fake plants

i would get a jute area rug with a colored (red or blue) border

and a concealing cloth cover for the CD stand
Paint those walls! Also, have things on your wall in small groups. hope that helps : )
I have no idea. The couches sort of ruin it.
Remove all the clutter, the plant, & the wooden stuff. Get a colorful rug (red/blue or blue/yellow) and a big Superman poster or 2. Also, the TV looks too big for that stand.
