What colors would you decorate with when you have a dark navy leather couch?
Question:We just got a dark, dark navy couch, and our walls are cream and floors are a light maple. We have a dark brown coffee table.
What other colors would you use in our living room-specifically the rug underneath the coffee table?
Answers:
Hey Breezer! (I see you around the wedding board all the time. ;D )
I agree with suggestions. Terra Cotta reds are very in right now and are beautiful with navy blue. A red in that color or other accents (rug, pillows, throws, etc) would really warm up the room. Find accessories like pottery, glass or even old books that combine navy with warm tones to pull things together.
Also, adding a little color to the walls would help make things feel intentional and cohesive. A warm gold could be beautiful and would compliment your navy couch and terra cotta red accessories beautifully. Almost a subdued play on primary colors.
My paint suggestions would be:
(All Sherwin Williams colors that can be found online)
White Raisin (SW 7685)
Biltmore Buff (SW 7691)
Concord Buff (SW 7684)
Reference these colors of red for accessories:
Rustic Adobe (SW 7708)
Copper Pot (SW 7709)
Hope that helps! Good luck and see you around!
You could go with oranges, terracotta, brick reds. A nice Persian rug or a machine made Persian with these colors would be different and light up the couch.
I would use a Persian-style rug with reds, navy blues, and golds. Then you can accessorize with reds and/or golds.

Anything but greens..blue and green do not match
You're missing a color to warm up the room. Consider a rug in deep red tones, burnt orange or a rug with a mix of blue, cream and apple green. You could also go with a rug that has a mixture of beiges, browns and cream.
Personally, I'd opt for a warm color. Olive green would be my warm color choice.
I have a dark navy (almost black) couch as well. My house has a very contemporary look, and I used navy and red in the accents (pillows, throws, etc.) My carpet and walls are two shades of grey. I have black and white Ansel Adams prints on the walls.
you could do a nice nautical theme.. and use a light goldish color on the walls
Rich brown. I would use a natural fiber area rug, maybe trimmed in navy. Cream pillows on the couch would lighten the rich color scheme.
Personally, I'm not sure I would put alot of colors with these. It sounds really nice! The fewer colors you have the cleaner crisper look you will achieve.
A burnt orange and creams would go well also some greens. They all go really well together you should try.
My son has a dark navy leather couch and loveseat. I took me quite a while to find a color scheme that worked in his apartment. I chose a very light blue for the walls. The wood trim is white and he has light oak flooring. He has a white coffee table, and a beautiful fish tank in the room. I don't know if you've recently painted or are up for a change but his apartment came out beautifully.
