Answers:
Keep your colors nice and soothing. Instead of bright and vibrant, go with something a little more calming. Try a really soft green on the walls. Not dark green nor lime nor granny smith apple green, but a very soft natural green. Then you can do some various khaki's on the bedding, then pop it with a bit of color in throw pillows. Provide a reading spot if you have room with a nice chair, lighting and a table for books. If not, then make sure you have adequate lighting bedside with storage for books. Think textures and layers instead of lots of colors.
check out hgtv.com for ideas on bedroom decorating, they have tons of stuff. I always check out their site when I'm rearranging or redecorating a room.
PS: don't forget to add plants and maybe some pictures of your favorite nature scenes, whether mountains, beaches, whatever.
Keep it simple. Floor should be darker than walls or ceiling.
Any trim should be a shade or two darker in the same color as the walls.
Later, try variations you may see in other places.
Well, a carpet floor(your choice), painted or wallpaperwalls that go good with the floor, and some furniture that would look good with the walls and floor. I'm not saying white walls, floor, and furniture. Just stuff that looks good with your walls and carpet.
It's your bedroom and anything that you choose will be perfect for you. Start with your favorite color and have fun. If you are artistic draw a plan. Look in magazine or the Internet for ideas.
I think everyone above has covered it ... simple, soothing, relaxing ... neutral colors would be a good start.
I painted my room orange once (it's one of my favorite colors) and I learned that - your favorite color does not necessarily "relax" you.
