Is there a product which covers old tiles?
Question:I want to change the look of the tiles in my kitchen without actually re-tiling have tried tile paint before, just wondered if there was anything else
Answers:
go to any diy shop you buy tile paint just for this kind of job it aint to pricey either
You can buy tile stickers, but I've used them and they look abit tacky! I would re-tile if I were you.
I agree with the first person, you can get tile stickers and tile paint, but even the people who did those make over shows now say it looked awful and dont recommend you doing it.
I did see anne maurice once put ceramic tile toppers on plain white tiles. I dont know where she got them from but you could maybe try to contact her show and ask her.
I used tile paint on my bathroom tiles once and it looked great..for about the first week. save your money and re-tile later if you can't afford to do so now. Pained tiles...look painted and tacky.
If you want to try something different - Rust-oleum has a product out called Stone Effects - its a 3 part system where you put on the primer - then a stone colour - then the sealer. This can be done on just about any surface interior and exterior (wood deck, paving stones, countertops) You can do vertical surfaces as well. If this is just on a wall you can seal it and it will look like granite - on countertops you put a special countertop coating to make it heat resistant and food grade. Here is a link to look at what is available.

if you want to change the colour of them you can paint over them with a product called zinsser bulls eye 123 and that will prime them and then you can paint anything and or any colour over the top of that.
you can get some really nice tile paint from places like B&Q at a reasonable price.. i bought some for my down stairs loo as i didnt see the point in buy a pack of tiles just to replace 3 old tiles, word of advice.. get the tile paint thats " one coat" and says " no primer needed"
if you dont want to use tile paint again you can get some really nice tile transfers/stickers aswell which will give the old tiles a bit of a face lift ( they also do some pretty cool mirror and metal look stickers for tiles aswell )
