I'm deciding on a guest bed arrangement for a small room. Should I get a futon, sofa bed or pop-up trundle?

We recently got a beautiful dark wood futon from freecycle but the mattress had to be thrown away because of pet smells. We have it in home office but needed extra sleep space for occasional visits from grown children. We went to a local furniture store and found out that they have new futon mattresses with springs built in. It is really thick and nice. It cost $200.00 . We have already had guests sleep on it and they said that it was extremely comfortable.
Sofa beds are a great idea
foutons are great! i have one in my guest room and its easy to make more room as well just make it into the "couch" also a full comforter set fits nicely on a futon so you can decorate it quite easily as well...and they are fairly cheap..i purchased mine at walmart for $179.00 and that was for a wooden one with storage compartments! check out walmart.com or visit the store!
Futon's are terrible. Sofa beds are best, but are heavy, can be hard to move and can scratch your wood flooring. I have never had a pop-up trundle, so I can't answer to that.
Good luck! :)
futon
I would get a futon or a trundle, I sleep a futon and have slept on a trundle which creates two beds than one and can sleep more people, it is better than a sofa bed where you feel the bars in your back and everytime you turn over they make you wake up in pain, plus they turn into a couch and can make more space in the room, just make sure it is a nice comfortable thick one. For you probably a trundle based on the size of your room. Measure it and base it on what is a better fit for the room but you have to think of comfort for your guests.
Personally, I would pick the futon. I have a pull-out sofa and it is unbelievably uncomfortable, even with an egg crate thing on it. My son slept on a futon for years and loved it.
what would You enjoy most? That would be my choice.
ours is a day bed. great for guests, folding laundry etc, even better with an extra mattress under neath in case you need more than one bed.
good luck.
How about a day bed? Sofa beds are never comfortable. Futons are too hard/firm. Pop-up trundle might be OK, assuming it has a full mattress.
Sofa Bed, you can turn it into a couch or a bed. But if you want a regular mattress on it then no. Because the mattress wont bend to turn into a couch. So you have to buy a special mattress for it.
I think a futon would be a very good idea because they take up less space and can be very decorative.
