Hi im having a yard sale..how do i get lots of people come?
Question:i need the money to redecorate some rooms in my house. i have signs to hang up...i need another way the get people to come. please help!

Im an avid yard saler, advertise it in your local paper, thats where everyone looks to see where to go on saturday mornings.
talk to co-workers to tell their friends and families, put an ad in the newspaper, put out a few balloons in the yarn to grab attention

put up lots of signs
Advertise. Put up signs around your neighborhood or by a nearby road. If people know about it ahead of time, they can plan to stop by and check it out.
Put an add in the paper and hang signs near your house. Also, start telling people you know.
advertise on some websites like craigslist or some local websites, put some signs up on the street and word of mouth
tell ur family and friends 2 spread the word. decorate the signs and put them on poles where a lot of people will see them. maybe u could put up an ad in the newspaper
See if you can get other friends to join in on the sale and then advertise it as a "multi family yard sale".
Start it early.
No one like to go yard saling when its a million degrees in the middle of the afternoon.
Most people go yard saling very early.
Offer refreshments if it will be hot, they'll stay longer.

Put a ad in the NEWS paper..and you can never have to many signs...the bigger the better and put out a lot I put up about 50 signs from all th main roads. I have also found out by opening earlyer than all the rest of the GS in town ( by about 1/2 to 1 hour) I get a bunch more people as they will come to mine first while waiting for the others to open. (1) Put an eyecatching ad in the newspaper. Keep it short & to the point. Be sure directions to your home are easy to understand.
(2) Place signs along the way for people to be able to see & follow easily
(3) For those who drive by, you want to attract people by displaying your sale items in an attractive way.
(4) Use clothes racks when hanging up most clothing
(5) Use folding tables to display most of your sale items
(6) Price the items sensibly
(7) Acknowledge people as they approach your sale. You want them to buy something, right?
My gfs are professional yard sale shoppers! lol. They get the paper and map out a plan and never go to sales that are repeats. That being said, they also wont say no to a street sale =--ever. Thats when neighbors all decide to have a sale on the same day or weekend. Last week, 3 families started that in our neighborhood and decided each family would give away a different food. The block was lined with cars all weekend. It was crazy. What I didn' know is that they do this every year.so people WATCH for their sale and their relatives SAVE their junk. lol
That being said...make sure you have a few items for "curb appeal" no one stops if it looks like all you have is baby clothes or toys. Make sure your signs are nicely done--even if by hand. Advertise ahead. If you need free advertising, put up signs in tops and other local businesses (beauty parlors or cafe's). Get organized...have the tables set up neatly. Call up friends and family see if they also want in on the action. a bigger display means more ppl will stop. Check you location...most people wont drive very far off the main drag...might want to have your sale at someone elses house on a main street. Good LUCK

when you hang up your signs make sure they are on hard surface and put in plastic. That way if it rains or what ever they will be okay
Put your signs up 2 week in advance and put tags with your phone number so people can call you for a list of stuff and or directions.
