How much will it cost to paint the interior of our approximately 2,000 sq. ft. house?
Question:Hi there. My husband and I are in the process of buying a home, and the interior is in need of a new paint job. How much will it cost to buy the paint to paint the inside of the house? The approximate square footage of the house is 2,000.
Also, if we choose to go with a painter or painting company, how much will they charge for paint and labor? Fyi, we live in Northern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.

Are you painting ceilings, walls and trim? Or Walls only? I'm a painter in Ky and these are my estimates. $1.00 /sf for ceilings. $35 /opening for trim. Opening as a door and its frame, window, a room of baseboard etc. Walls $ 3.00 /lin.f for2 coats and patching holes and nail pops. those prices include all paint. Get your painter to buy materials for they'll be more likely to get a discount. Most gallons of paint spread 300-400 sq.f Ask around for reliable painters and make sure you get a detailed contract about price, how many coats and start and completion dates

Talk to your realtor they know all the painters in town and can recommend a few, so they can put in bids before you move in to your new home. Normally its best to paint before you move in but our exterior of the same size home cost us about 2K.. if you just want a white or eggshell interior it will cost less then if you want different colors in each room. I opt for white walls and different color carpets its much easier to change out a carpet than dealing with paint, spills, covering everything, etc.
