Im remodeling a very small bedroom, any suggestions?
Question:my new bedroom is very small and im wondering what the best ways are to make it seem bigger without looking blan. Thanks!
Answers:
Make the best use of your walls, even if you mount storage only a few inches off the ground, seeing the floor/molding will fool the eye and make your room appear larger. Think shallower units so they don't project too far into the room. Think about a bed that is raised a bit, and includes storage built in underneath.
If you can do it, go with hardwood floors. and keep clutter to a minimum. Open shelving high up all around your room can serve as display. If there are any shadowy corners, throw in a lamp that will brighten it up so none of your precious space gets lost visually. I will also stress what others have said and suggest you go with a lighter color of a shade you love.
Paint it a very light color. Don't have carpet. Use multipurpose furniture like a futon and fold up table. If you like them, cover a wall with mirrors.
The first thing I can think of is a lighter shade/color of paint.
Darker colors make spaces seem smaller. Another thing I can think of is a smaller bed (if you are single)--full size or maybe even a daybed. Think SIMPLE and CLEAN when decorating: don't clutter the dressers/shelves with knick-knacks, etc. This also applies when choosing window treatments, as large/elaborate draperies will take up too much space and overtake the room.

Keep colour scheme all one main coloiur. Preferably pastel or cream or white. Let's say white. Walls and bedcovers. Curtains white- maybe trimmed on top or side with say-Lime Green.Use Lime green csatter cushion on bed. Introduce a \print on wall.Echo the colour lime green with say- cherry. Table lamps or lampshade-in coloured glass. Hope you get the picture. Main-plain, accents coloured. Try Matha Stewart.com They have lots of ideas. Good Luck!
The Color of the walls will be the most obvious change to the effect of looking small or roomy. Get a light color scheme white will make it look as big as can be compared to a dark Brown or any Dark color will look closed in and small.
