Interior decorating question?

Question:My husband and I just bought a new couch and loveseat. It almost looks like a soft leather (its microfiber), a cherry oak color. I can't think of a good color to paint our walls! It is driving me nuts! :) I like earthy, deep colors. My living room is a tad small (not TOO small). Any ideas would be appreciated!

Answers:
Refer to the colors of the other accessories in your room in addition to the color of your sofa. Choose a color that will complement everything in general. If still in doubt, choose a darker color for a one wall and a lighter complementary color for the other walls.

A light contrasting earth tone color would be best in a small room....Dark colors on walls will make your room appear to be smaller. Consider putting a mirror or two up to enlarge the appearance of your room.

You could go the Sherwin Williams. There you will find they have some paint brochures that have several sampling of 3 colors grouped together on one card.

Find one that has the color of your couch or close to it and go from there. I hope I been of some help to you.
Take digital pictures of your room, with the couch etc and then upload to your PC. Use photo software if you have it, to color (I use the fill feature) in the walls with different colors, to get an idea of what would look best.

Or print out using a "coloring book" feature, many printer options have that, and use colored pencils to get ideas.
If you have a small living room, you want to go with light colors... A pastel color the same color as but shades lighter than the furniture would be great. To compliment the furniture, you may want to border the ceiling (on the upper part of the wall in a narrow print border that you like. Dark colors makes a room look much smaller than it really is.
beige with upper border of mauve/plum & green.
What do you think?
a subtle sage green might look good - or a very very pale yellow (almost cream) would work. It kinda depends on what color your wood trim is, also.
