How can I remove a single support in my basement and put two on each side of the room?

Question:

Answers:
If it's one of those typical middle of the basement supports - no, you can't.
This is a main structural support for the center of the house, or a weight bearing wall above it, and putting 2 on the sides of the room doesn't recreate the central support it's trying to replace.
