If ceramic tiles are 8x8 how many tiles would it take to cover an area 4x6?

Question:

Answers:
I assume you are speaking inches for the tiles, and of feet for the floor or whatever, correct"?

8" is 4" less than 12", which is a foot.
there are 48" in 4 ft. You would need 6 tiles across (4").There are 72" in 6 feet. That would be 9 rows of 8" tile down... I figure you might need about 54 tiles. It's all in the math.

At least 54 tiles.
4x12=48
6x12=72
72x48=3456sq/in
8x8=64sq/in tile size
3456 divided by 64 = 54 tiles
1/4" spacing two sides need cut 2,1/4" the size will be 5,3/4"
in last rows of two side.
