I bought a lamp & shade that leaves the bulb 1 inch exposed over the shade. Did I get the right shade?

Question:I bought the lamp & shade from Target. The bulb is exposed about 1 inch over the shade. Should I have bought a different shade. The shade has a ring on the bottom that fits over a pole on the lamp. There is no bracket that usually surrounds the bulb. Should I get a bracket? The lamp works fine. It just looks a little funny.

Answers:
If there's no harp, I bet you need the kind of shade that slips on over the bulb. Try one of those.

I would get a bracket... it would help protect the shade?
Hi...Your lightbulb should not be exposed over your lamp. it would be defeating the purpose. I would exchange it for one that does cover the light bulb. I hope this helps.
Try getting a smaller bulb.. they have many styles now ..
You can also try getting a bracket, go to thrift stores you might get a really cheap one there..
