Fretboard too thin?

Question:I oversanded the fretboard I'm putting on the guitar I'mm currently building. As a result, I think that it's too weak to withstand a truss rod pushing against it.

Can I somehow anchor the rod to the neck wood at several points so it applies it's force to the neck wood instead of the fretboard?

Or is it just better to laminate another thin peice of wood to the bottom of the fretboard to thicken it?

Answers:
I hate to say this, but start over. I know it's a pain, but do you really want to invest one more second of your time on something that might ultimately fail? Or worry every time you play it? This happens to me in furniture building, and the best route I've decided to take is: chuck it, start over.
