Can I come help?!! wow... Now u say u'r gonna b in the attic w/ a so-called lounge rm..awsome!
So let's start w/ something that u like? Other than Color... do u lean more towards Parisian or Retro or 70's or 50's or funk or nostaglic.. what r u'r likes? Look at what u have now.. what is it u like? Then go from that.
U can do 2 walls opposite in u'r rm w/ 1 color then other walls opposite... then use those colors as ur accent colors in u'r "lounge" rm.. Then what accent colors u would use in u'r rm.. use as u'r wall colors in the lounge. That way it would tie it together but b slightly different.
Sooo u can pick one color & do different SHADES of that color... like purples.. then accent w/ orange or lime green... OR visa versa.
If u like stripes.. then do the walls in u'r main color then jst do a few stripes in the middle or slightly higher of the rm... tape it off.. paint accent color where the stripes would b.
U can do circles of different sizes done w/ a string/pencil &tack... tack the string to wall & measure out w/ the string w/ pencil at the end.. hold taunt.. draw ur circle & paint in it 2 of u'r accent colors. NOW i wouldn't do the whole rm b/c that would b way 2 mch.
u can do flowers or even find material at flea markets/garage sales/ thrift stores or fabric stores.. u could make a pin up board for notes/posters/photos or make circles. Make covers for old pillows for the throw w/ sewing or iron on adheisve. Take sheets & make u'r cover for u'r bed or curtains that way they would match & paint on them w/ fabric paint geometric designs/circles/polka dots/ stripes/hands/flowers/faces/ have u'r friends sign it & paint w/ u.
Get old pillows/cushions from those type of stores & recover them for u'r lounge.. find hanging lamps & re-paint them or recover the shade w/ material & hang beads or funky yarn from the shade or table lamp shades or pillows..
U could go w/ 1-2 main colors... use a 3rd color for u'r furniture & then use all for accents.

Be creative. Look at things a different way than they r s'pose to b.. & put them on the wall & put pix inside of them... make a clock out of childrens' blocks... get baskets & paint them or boxes & put u'r "stuff" in them. or turn them upside down for little tables. cover them w/ material & batting so it also could b sat on.
Just use u'r imagination & get u'r friends involved. Then when u look back... u'll b proud.
have fun
I would do Like a bright Orangy Pink color for the walls, wiith Lime Green and Blue and Hot Pink Decor... Sooo cute!
how about looking through home magazines or at the colors of the walls on your favorite tv shows.they might give you some good ideas of what works...

This site should give some ideas, at the very least.
What you described reminds me of the Nordstroms by my house. By the dressing room they have this lounge type room that I LOVE. Its bright colors like oranges and pinks and on the wall (sounds crazy) Its covered with different fun mirrors (fun shapes and designs) The furniture is crazy too. I suggest looking in magazines and then just going to the store and finding some fun and crazy stuff.
try a hot pink room with black or white furnature
