Marble or Granite?
Question:I want to replace some counter tops. Which is better Marble or Granite and why?
Answers:
Granite is second only to diamonds in hardness, heat resistant and durable.Granite is an excellent product for use in kitchens and other food preparation areas. Under normal conditions it is stain, chip, scratch, and burn resistant. Like any other countertop material, if cleaned regularly and properly granite poses no health or sanitation problems. Marble is not recommended for use in the kitchen because of its tendency to stain and scratch.Using marble as a cutting surface will result in scratches as if cutting on a piece of wood.Marble should not be used in kitchens as excessive heat can cause damage and potentially leave scars or burn marks. If you get granite make sure it is properly sealed
I hope this helped I have granite in my kitchen and love it. However there is this stuff called ceasarstone
( Concetto)and pyrolava that are very attractive and dont have the cost behind granite
Granite. Marble is really hard to take care of. It stains and burns really easy, Marble is really a soft stone. Granite is a much harder stone, and that makes it easier to care for.
If you don't mind having a mountain defaced so that you can have a countertop, i'd say granite. If you didn't feel good about helping the money people create an ecological disaster area for the sake of a buck, i'd say, maple. Thanks.
there is some stuff that is man made that is better than marble or granite. it is made out of recycled glass. great stuff. search the web.
Granite is far far harder and less porous. Marble can stain easily and cannot take the heat that granite can.
Marble is cool to the touch and is enjoyed by pie bakers and fudge makers as a beautiful surface to roll out dough on. But it is not suitable for the other areas of the kitchen.
Granite is a sturdier stone and although it needs to be sealed and re-sealed occasionally, you don't have to be as protective with it. Marble is very porous so things can stain and mar it much easier. New home builders lean toward granite and corian or even silestone these days.
Granite. It will add more value to your house and is the better than marble.
